It was constructed of a top and bottom mount with a double recoil system. Transported as a rule in two loads, the cannon could also be towed in one piece for quick position changes, including by the Sd. Kfz. 9 "FAMO" tracked weapons carrier. The Sd.Kfz. 9 - an 18 ton heavy infantry vehicle - is one of the best known German vehicles of World War 2. Approx 2,500 of the final version were built from 1939-44 at the FAMO motor works in Breslau. It can be built optionally with the mortar or the cannon together with the FAMO.
